Are you Happy?

“Happiness is the greatest gift to man.”

Phineas Quimby, Father of New Thought~

A few weeks ago, I had a wonderful opportunity to participate in a spiritual conference in Scottsdale, Arizona, sponsored by the International New Thought Alliance. There were ministers from all over the world speaking and sharing about the power of God within each of us as well as our connection with one another. The main message was, “We are One” as human/spiritual beings. We are all made from the same energy with universal desires for happiness, prosperity, and purpose. So have you taken stock of where you’re at?

The keys to happiness aren’t always clear but they have a common thread. Webster defines happiness as a “state of well-being characterized by emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy”. What does happiness mean to you? Look at the picture and notice all the possibilities. Take some time to really contemplate this question in order to identify what actions could be taken to make your life more enjoyable. Joy is the essence of happiness, so if you find out what brings you joy (and you do it) you will automatically be happy.

According to Wayne Dyer, “when you are able to shift your inner awareness to how you can serve others, and when you make this the central focus of your life, you will then be in a position to know true miracles in your progress toward prosperity“. When we give of our time, talents and treasures, we are automatically rich in mind and manifestation; time ceases to exist and joy is overflowing. Living from a place of selfless service, actually serves the world and the Soul.

What’s your purpose? We’ve all heard the saying that “it’s better to give than to receive” but do we put this notion into practice on a regular basis? How can you utilize your purpose to improve the lives of another? All too often, we get wrapped up in the drama of our own lives. When this becomes the norm, our lives can turn into one crisis after another and with it goes any hope of happiness or perspective. Being mindful of this human tendency or pattern is the first step to shifting your awareness from “me” to “we”.  In turn, being of service to others will add meaning to your life and set a chain of love/joy/healing in motion that will ripple throughout the world. This is our ultimate purpose; to be the voice and hands of God. It’s the simple things that matter most. A hug; lending a hand; offering to listen; being available; saying yes to the needs of others. Look around and notice the signs.

We are One; inextricably connected. In bringing joy and comfort joy to others, we receive everlasting joy and fulfillment.  In waking up to these universal principles, we release selfish motives and dysfunctional patterns of behavior. So what are you willing to do differently on your quest for happiness, prosperity, and purpose?

The ball is in your court; it’s the fourth period and the world is waiting for your answer. How will you respond?
